POEM 5

May 1st

HOW

I see my light

come shining

any day way now

we shall be released

to face the choice

of how to step outside

how to go forth

with all that insight

that we gained in chains

inside

buried alive

within our homes

how we managed

what we did

without

what we found

we did not need

and I am shaking

with the choice

how will we pass

each other

on the street

how near how far

and how discrete

how will we meet

how greet

the kiss on cheek

the shaken hand

the hug

the high 5

unmasked and ungloved

at closer than 5 feet

it feels

exciting

but there will be caution

where there never was before

a new sisterhood of man

a new hands-off

social etiquette distortion

that will override metoo

touch everything

that touches me

and

touches you.

Hey Jane good morning/ evening --morning here evening for you. You really had the word play word association part of your brain firing on all cylinders with this one. Hate to compare because everything you write is so original ,but I kind of got a Subterranean Homesick Blues feeling about this one. You wrote in the address book that you have a photographic memory and it comes out so much in your poetry, being able to pick all of these little tidbits from that little repository in your brain and put them all together. You deserve a wink and Nod and a well-done.😉👍
