DAY 24 – Aug 26
footy on heat
footy in ice vests
it’s not right
footy every night
and afternoon time
pseudo prime time
interstate
in the hubs
all the clubs doing their best
to compete
in this asterisk season
when tragics should be freezin’
our arses in the stands
we are home glued to the box
kayoing fox
suffering in our jocks
cardboard cutouts in our seats
to cheer the lads
spur them to glory
we gnash our teeth
during the ads
endure Bruce and BT
and the lame commentary
wishing we were at the G
our boys are melting
up north
scarlet cheeks
hearts on fire
steamy rain softly falls
over canned cries of ‘ball!’
footy waits for no one
a whole year
hurts.
